“A wedding is one of life’s great moments!”

“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

It’s good that you are thinking of holding your wedding in a local Church. The church is keen to serve you. This is a special a time for you so the local church members will do all they can to guide you and help you to prepare not only for the special day but lifelong commitment to each other.

Getting married in church is both similar and dissimilar to a ceremony at a Register Office or in another licensed premise. Legally, it performs the same function; but importantly a church wedding has a religious or spiritual dimension added to it. Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God. Not only are couples entering into relationship with each other but they are asking God to guide them in their life together.

Christ Church has a long tradition of care and hospitality. The worship is excellent whether traditional or modern. The church community enjoys working with and getting to know you so that your wedding ceremony will be special. If you live in the parish or have a family connection to Christ Church, New Mill you can ask about having your wedding at Christ Church.

One of the ministers from the church will be happy to talk to you at any time. Once you have booked a wedding service you will be asked to attend an interview to begin planning your wedding. Our experience is the more that you are willing to put into planning your wedding service the more you will get out of it. As soon as you have a date in mind, please get in touch.

If you have not already done so, why not have a look at the Church of England’s Wedding Planner? There you can look at hymns and readings, read about the experience of other couples and even create a draft order of service.
