Christ Church Choir currently has seven junior members, and five of these were candidates in May for the examinations for Chorister Awards, administered by the Royal School of Church Music. All five were successful, two of them at the higher Silver Award (also called the Bishop’s Award) level, three at the lower Bronze Award (also called the Dean’s Award) level.
The awards were presented at the RSCM Choirs Festival in Wakefield Cathedral on 11th June. The picture shows four of our five awardees (the fifth was unable to be there), together with those from other churches. With them is the Dean of Wakefield, the Very Reverend Jonathan Greener, who presented the Bronze awards. Our choristers are standing next to the Dean.
The presentation ceremony was recorded, and can be seen on YouTube.
