Team Anniversary

The Upper Holme Valley team Anniversary service, held at Christ Church New Mill on 29th January, was a milestone in the life of Revd Di Ellerton, the Team Vicar in charge of St. John’s Upperthong, and a friend to many in the Holme Valley. She presided at the Communion service – her final service in her capacity as a Team Vicar, marking her retirement. Team rector Revd Canon Sean Robertshaw made a presentation, including a card signed by mambers of the large congregation present.
Preacher at the service was lay reader John Bullimore, who spoke about change – the Gospel for the day was the story of Jesus’ changing water into wine – and he exhorted us to embrace change and seek the positives in change.
The service was coordinated by Sean, the intercessions were led by Revd Evelyne Barrow, and Revd Keith Griffin read the first reading.
Music before the service was provided by members of Christ Church’s worship band, and the music of the service was led by singers from choirs in the Team. Particularly welcome this year were the dozen or so children (half from Christ Church, half from St. David’s Holmbridge) who took an active part in the music.
