Remembrance Sunday

Christ Church, with the Royal British Legion, offered the annual Service of Remembrance, attended by a large crowd filling the church. It started at 10.30am on November 13th, and was be followed by a parade down Sude Hill to the New Mill War Memorial Room, where wreaths were laid. The service was supported by Thongsbridge Army and Air Cadets, and the local uniformed organisations.
Hepworth Band and Christ Church Choir led the music.
During the service, the choir sang a version of a piece of music composed this year by David Lang to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. They were one of several choirs around the country taking part in the “Memorial Ground” project (see https://www.1418now.org.uk/memorial-ground/), some in similar church services, some singing a concert version.
