Eve and John are this year’s Junior Church joint Representatives, and as the JC Reps have traditionally done, they will arrange a series of social events with the additional purpose of raising funds for charity. Eve has chosen to support K-9 Angels, a UK charity created in order to help dogs all over the world by improving the quality of their existence, and by educating people about animal welfare.
John has chosen to support the British Heart Foundation, which is a charity organisation in the United Kingdom that funds research, education, care and awareness campaigns aimed to prevent heart disease.
On February 27th, they held the first event – an Afternoon Tea in church. This was well supported – 40 tickets were printed, but over 40 people arrived. In addition to Eve’s and John’s families, thanks are due to Diane Myers and Kay Valentine for helping on the day, and also to those who donated cake. Crumpets and Toasted Currant Teacake were on the menu – a variation on the usual afternoon tea which proved popular with those there (but not so popular with the church electrics – the toasters plus kettles played havoc with the circuit breakers for a while!).
The event raised around £300 for the charities plus church.
